The 8th Annual Mile High International Pastel Exhibition 2012 is a juried show open to any artist 18 years of age or older. Original paintings only accepted. No work from copyrighted images or photographs taken by anyone other than the submitting artist. If used in your paintings, collage materials must be created by the artist. All art work must be 80% soft pastel. Paintings must have been completed within the last two years and not previously shown in a Pastel Society of Colorado or Madden Museum of Art exhibit. The Pastel Society of Colorado reserves the right to reject inappropriate subject matter.
Awards: Cash and Merchandise Awards totaling $5000 will be presented at the opening reception on August 3, 2012, 4:30-8:30 PM at the Madden Museum. All awards are made at the discretion of our juror, Elizabeth Mowry. Sponsor awards: TBA.
Entry form is considered a contract and must be completely and accurately filled out providing all requested information regarding the paintings and the artist. Only digital entries will be accepted through OnlineJuriedShows.com , a secured website. A prospectus must be filled out on-line at that website and full payment made by credit card or through PayPal for entered images to be considered for inclusion in this Exhibition. The information on the contract/entry is considered final upon receipt and payment of fees at the website and cannot be changed. Incomplete entries will not be processed. Artists may submit up to 3 painting images as their entry. Entries must be received by midnight on June 15, 2012. (Pacific Time)
Framing & Presentation: All work accepted must be delivered framed, glazed, and ready to hang to gallery quality standards, i.e., frames must be suitable for the work and the show and be undamaged, with wired hangers installed on the frame. Paintings can be with or without mats. Matted pieces must be in clean white, off-white or light neutral-hued mats. Art work can be floated on black or white mats. Liners or fillets should be ¼ inch and may be colored. Art works not meeting the above criteria will be returned at the artist’s expense and will not be hung in the show.
Size and Requirements: Image sizes submitted cannot be smaller than 8 inches or larger than 36 inches in any dimension (not including mat and frame).
Accepted paintings must be identical to the entry. No substitutions are allowed. All work displayed must remain for the duration of the exhibition. Works juried into the show and not delivered for exhibit will prohibit the artist’s entry in future PSC-sponsored exhibits for two years.
Sales: All work submitted must be for sale. There will be a 35% commission on sales. Paintings sold will not be released before the end of the exhibition.
