Event Description

'Art in the Open' - a plein air painting festival of paint-outs, workshops, exhibition and good company. The annual August event is open to all and attracts visitors from Europe, USA and all of Ireland to Wexford in the sunny south-east.

There are a variety of places to stay. You can pay anything from €25 euro per night (very basic) to around €85 per night for 4* hotel with breakfast, pool and gymnasium. The average bed & breakfast at that time of year is around €35 to €50 euro per night for single occupancy.

Getting around is easy. Each day the festival arranges a bus from Wexford (our base) to the paint out location for €8 and you can book your place online when the festival website goes 'live' in a couple of weeks' time. Once there, you can walk easily to wherever you want to set up, as the sites are all compact.

Comment by Tony Robinson on December 17, 2012 at 9:35pm: The excellent Ned Mueller will be giving a 3-day plein air workshop immediately after Art in the Open from 7-9 August 2013 here in Ireland.

Anyone thinking about coming to the festival should be sure to enter this Plein Air Artists' competition as you could win 7 nights for two sharing in a 4* hotel and free entry to Art in the Open 2013.
