Paint in the ochre Village of Rousillon, http://www.photos-of-provence.com/photos-roussillon/photos-roussillon.php, one of France’s “Most Beautiful Villages.” Other painting excursions take us to the hilltop village of Gordes, http://www.provenceweb.fr/e/vaucluse/gordes/gordes.htm, to the water & canals in Isle sur la Sorgue, http://www.provence-hideaway.com/214.html, to St Remy de Provence, http://www.provence-hideaway.com/206.html, and to Venasque. http://www.beyond.fr/villages/venasque.html.
Paint along the paths that Vincent van Gogh used to walk the last years of his life. Visit the beautiful old monastery in St Remy with the bedroom where van Gogh stayed during his very troubled time in 1889-90. You will also find beautiful reproductions of some of van Gogh's paintings. Paint fields of poppies, which will be in bloom at this time. You might also choose to paint the same olive trees once painted by van Gogh.
Do you have a non painter spouse or friend that wants to join you on this trip? No problem. Jackie, our French tour guide will take painters to their painting location, and then take the non-painters on daily excursions. We'll all meet for lunch, and then back to sightseeing or painting.
Just a beginner? I have my BS degree in art and over 30 years of teaching experience. I'll demonstrate in oil, but artists may choose to work in the medium of their choice. Watercolor was my medium of choice for 18 years before I switched to working in oils. I have taught pastels and acrylics as well.
An experienced painter? Come to brush up on your techniques or just to join a group of artists for the excitement of painting in France. There's no need to watch my demonstrations if you just want to paint on your own. This will be a relaxing week of painting & sightseeing with no expectations other than to have a wonderful time!
