PLEIN AIR ARTISTS

An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

I notice that I always am more inspired by a dramatic landscape.  Usually the painting comes out so that I like it.  Perhaps it's because I was so involved emotionally and I some how managed to convey that to my work?  Although on the other hand, if I really feel the "need to plein air" then just about any scene can provide a composition.  If I look hard enough I will find something to love and paint it.  Does anyone else experience this?  For a chance to be really inspired by every where you look come to the Plein Air Artist Retreat on Gregg's ranch this Sept 30th.  Click on the following link for details.  http://www.pleinairartistretreat.com/

I have to agree with you here Lynne. Being juiced up about a particular scene can really get the artistic flow going. However there are those occasions that we can be overwhelmed/overdosed by the incredible beauty before us and can end up like a deer in the headlights. Particularly when you find yourself in a completely different enviroment than you are used to.

It is never too early to do an Event posting for your PAA Retreat. Having painted there, I will endorse the landscap as inspiring, indeed. I liked your recent painting posted with the "willow"? leaves hanging down in front of the stream. Well done.

Hi Jeffrey, thanks for the reply.  I love an area I am not used to because it pushes me past my former habits of seeing and analyzing a scene.  Last year at the Plein Air Artist Retreat we had an artist Nikolai Kranseis, also on this site, come from Berlin Germany, an artist June Shull, also on this site, from Cle Elum WA, and Mike Kowalski, also on this site, from Seattle WA as well as others I won't list here.  We had a Fabulous TIME.  I will post the video later this month.  I plan on having several more get togethers in this area and I welcome you to join us.  I love your work.  Keep your eye on the Plein Air Events at this site.  All the Best, Lynne

Thanks Don.  I value your praise since I'm one of your biggest fans!  As I told Jeffrey, I am working on some more event this coming year.  As I write this Tim and I are at the Lincoln Lake Cabin putting door knobs on bedrooms and itemizing some new improvements, such as an additional cabin for sleeping, a king size bed in the master bedroom, new washer and dryer.  I really wish you could have enjoyed PAAR, but we can certainly paint around here anytime you can make it again.  Would you consider being my Star Attraction at one of them?  Email me personally and we can discuss it further.  lynne@tanks-a-lot.net  Nikolai is building the Lincoln Lake Cabin website and I think he would love to come back.  See you again?  I am struggling with the video of PAAR and hope to post it soon.  Love Lynne and Tim.

a landscape is a landscape. the "dramatic" that you find there you brought with you. By  your own words " i was so emotionally involved". others who see the same landscape might agree with you...............still others might yawn. you can search the world over for beauty (or dramatic) but if you didn't bring it with you ...............you won't find it . Evidently you have  it within you.  happy painting.
