PLEIN AIR ARTISTS

An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

I'm looking for the policy on flying with oil paints directed by the Ministry of Transportation (Canadian).  I've looked under Dangerous Cargo Exemptions ... not there.  I know for a fact you can fly with a certain amount of oil paints (tube) - this was the results of security taking my oil paints out of my suitcase (loaded in the belly of the plane) and then me challenging MOT, then receiving payment for the oil paints!  Anyone know EXACTLY where this policy exist?  By the way .. phoning is useless as per any government office, you just get passed to the next office!  Thanks.......  deb

Usually there is a flashpoint level for dangerous/flammable materials. In the USA you can carry paint in checked luggage because its flashpoint is high compared to the level set by the TSA. You might look for information regarding combustables as opposed to just paint.
Thanks Armand!!!! cheers Deborah
True. The most flammable portion of a tube of artist's paint is the paper label.
