An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

I have an outdated (4 year old!!) PC and I am considering switching to a MAC laptop. If any of you have done so, I would like to know if it was difficult to use your old files? Was it hard to get used to, or is it as "idiot-proof" as MAC owners tell me it is?

Illustrator (and old Freehand), Photoshop, InDesign, Flash, all Mac software programs I use, extraordinary... Believe they all cross platform.

Thanks for the responses, Hank and Melissa. Hank - I already back up my stuff on a memory stick, so maybe I am OK there. I have been using CorelDRAW8 a lot and I might have to replace it if it is not compatible with a MAC but I want to switch to PaintShop PRO anyways so I guess it won't matter as long as I can open my Corel files on the MAC. Most everything has been converted to TIFF or JPEG format anyways. Compatibility is such a PAIN. All I really want to do is PAINT!!!
I got my MAC this year, after getting totally frustrated with my new laptop with Vista on it... I could not be happier with my Mac.... I did buy Word/Excel/Powerpoint for the MAC so that I could communicate with people in the PC world... the only way I'd buy a new PC... would be if Windows was NOT the operating system... Dell is selling PC's now with Ubuntu (Linex based operating system) as an option instead of Windows... I know several people that have been using it and like it. Get a MAC!!!
Thanks again, Terri. We use Quickbooks so that is good to know... No Blackberry or FedEX so 1 out of 3 ain't so bad

When switching from PC to Mac, you'll find that if you stop thinking so hard about what you are trying to do, the simple solution will become apparent.

There are some business programs that are only written for PC, and there are programs like QuickBooks that have a Mac version that is a little quirky, and there are some websites that don't play nicely with Macs. Like FedEx: if you have a business account with them, you will not be able to fill out shipping labels on line via your Mac. And Blackberry, which does not support Blackberry OS updates via Mac, so you'll have to find a friend with a PC if you need to do that. But those are the only two of note that I've found lately. The reliability of my Macs, and the reliability of Apple's customer service, more than make up for those holdouts.
