I so enjoy painting on our weekly paint outs. And it's fun to rediscover some of NJ's hidden treasures. And Stephanie - thank you so much for all you do for our group!

Assuming I can change the administrator of this site.... would someone like to step up and take-over the admin job here, since Stephanie Amato has become inactive?

In 2000 I visited home in Neptune, New Jersey for a week. Staying with my parents in the house I was raised in, in my big brothers bedroom, since my room was changed into the TV room. It gave me a chance to see some old friends and I painted in watercolor everyday I was there. Here is my favorite one of the trip. My dad wanted to buy it from me to give to one of my nephews as a Christmas gift a few years back. When he asked me how much and said "just tell me how much" kind of gruff in his way. I said, I owe you so much and that I did not feel right charging him the full retail price, which I know he knew since we had talked about why my prices were so high... so finally I insisted that he pay me what he thought it was worth... keep in mind it is framed under glass.

As I took the painting down off the wall and handed it to him, without looking me in the eye, he gave me $35. To this day I have been trying to figure that out. It seems he did not want me to give it away and by giving me so little for it, feels like he got a real bargin. I don't know.

But here it is.... "Belmar Boatyard"... a lobster boat out of the water.

I am planning to come up to NJ again next Summer around August 1st to visit my brother in Sea Girt and have a mini reunion with some folks in Shark River Hills. The neighborhood I grew up in. Anyone want to hook-up and go painting.... not necessarily in that order. (Note: "hook-up" to me means "get together".
