I did a scene of a bridge using only the light of the full moon. It took about 15 minutes before my eyes adjusted but once they did I had no double seeing my painting. A group of us did the scene and following our outing had a show.

Great piece, Don.

Was this painted by streetlamp?

As an aside, have you ever attracted the attention of the law while painting nocturnes in your vehicle at night? I'm an urban and suburban painter, too, and have had encounters with security guards.

Me too on the Petzl lite. The light used on this one I am posting was so dim you really can't see the real color you were using... more value really.

I have been toying with the concept of making a ID, an Artistic License, which will be laminated like a drivers license and have the look of an official ID card, but totally a joke. This could be shown in awkward moments like these when asked, "what's going on?" and yes, I have been investigated. People get curious and are protective if you are on their property act weird like us artists do.

The way I do it, I try to be done before they really know I am there. But I can remember one time a guy from a good ways away yelled at me with the question, what are you doing and I replied painting a picture. He came back with how would you like it, if I went to your house and painted a picture. I reply by saying you would be welcome but there's really nothing to paint, that's why I am here.
