Hi everyone, Some people have contacted me about the PLEINAIRBUDDIES trips group. I just wanted to clarify the goal for me. I formed this group to provide short local day painting trips to areas in the Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, WV area. All levels are welcome. The trips will occur monthly.  I will organize the trips, make hotel accomodations if we decide to stay overnight somewhere, arrange for car pools and welcome any suggestions from the group. Trips are usually for a day, sometimes overnight. Painters work entirely independently without instruction. I will facilitate a critique if it is wanted. This is not a workshop just an opportunity to get together once a month and paint in a designated location nearby.Hope you will come out with us! Jeanean

Hello, folks. I'm in Columbia, MD and I really would love to organize a group outing this fall to paint the fall color. PA sounds as if it might be nice. Or we could try for the Catoctin Mts. here in MD, which I am familiar with. I'm open to suggestions. Could I interest anyone else into coming along? I would love to meet & paint with you in this group.

It is such a pleasure to be with you "pleinairbuddies".  I live down on the coast of SE North Carolina, but I was a college prof in Virginia for 37 years and have kids and grandkids in Richmond, VA and Bel Air, Md so I feel at home with you folks.  We spend alot of time in Richmond because of twin grandsons, one year old and I looking for some painting buddies there. We do love Virginia and Maryland.

Hello, Jeanean. I think this group is a great idea. As I said, I'm interested doing a trip to the Catoctin Mts. near Thurmont, MD to paint the fall color. Late October sounds about right--we can keep an eye on the weather so we can gauge when the best weekend will be, maybe the 3rd or last weekend in Oct. I haven't seen the falls in some time, so I don't know about the views, but if you like I can drive up there in the next couple of weeks, check out the lay of the land and report back to you. Let us know if you want to get together to paint somewhere else before that. I'm looking forward to meeting you and the members of this group.

Thanks, Elena. A Catoctin Mt. trip sounds great.

So very nice to be featured on this site.  I hope others will consider joining PLEINAIRBUDDIES especially if you live Mid-Atlantic area.

Hi All,

I just joined, glad to be here I have known Jeanean and her family for years.  I am getting out more and more to paint plein air and live in the Middletown Valley which is full of beautiful farms etc. to paint.  I went to Easton MD in July for the last 3 days of the plein air week, not as a competitor although I did do the Quick Draw event on Sat.  Loved the area and met local artists there in Oxford, St. Michaels, Tilghman so many possibilities there, only 2 hours from Frederick MD where I live. I hope to get out alot more this year.  I've thought about joining the Loudon Sketch Club which is supposed to be  good group but this is closer to home!

Hello Group,

Very glad that this group is forming and hope to become involved as well.  At home in Gettysburg, and centrally located to all previously mentioned spots for painting, I think it will be a great group.  Hope to meet and paint with everyone soon.

Nothing happens untill the first step is taken. I just updated the old Icon I made two years ago by changing the year to 2012. Now that the hard work is done, let's put together a memorable paint-out. How about March 30, 31 ending on April Fool's Day 4/1?
