Has anyone used DS watercolor ground?  I'd like hear about it and see the results. I'm thinking about trying some as framing without matting and glass is my objective...

Thanks,

Mary

I wish to know too.
I haven't used the DS ground, but I have an article that Eric Wiegardt had on his web site in 2006 addressing mounting w/o glass. The DS ground wasn't available at that time and he used watercolor paper mounted on a board. He then describes how he finishes the painting to protect it without glass.  The combination of the new ground and his way of finishing the painting would probably work well. If you or anyone else wants the article, I can email it to you.

Thank you Robert ! I'm very interested. Please email the article to me.

Many thanks.

Hi Mary,

I use Golden Absorbent Gesso, like Daniel Smith watercolor ground.  Use a thin coat on Oil canvas, let dry, then paint with watercolor.  Click to my site to see paintings I did on canvas.  Let me know if you try this technique?

Thanks Barbara !  I'll let you know when I try it.
