Hi Don,  Good idea.  

I'm in Albuquerque for the summer and painting.

If your in the area, let me know and we can have a beer.  The Marble Brewery in town is outstanding.

I recently finished this, "Running Down Central Avenue" (36" by 36") acrylic on panel.  Central is the main street of Albuquerque.  Turning the painting 180 degrees and it's call 'Atrisco' for the irrigation canals off of the Rio Grande.  So it started plein air and morphed from there.

This work will be in a show "Mining the Unconscious" which opens at the Community Gallery in Santa Fe on June 17.  The show is in honor of the posthumous publication of Carl Jung's "Red Book".

I just returned from Tucson. And I was able to work out at the Sonora Desert Museum where they have a worldclass open air facility to study Hummingbirds close up. Plus... it's Mating Season... so there were at least 3-4 Hummers on their nests. And you can get close up as they are used to people moving through. It's quite wonderful.

Many of you know that I have been painting the southwest since I was in my twenties, over 40 years ago. I have a deep love for the western landscape and thought a group of us should be started here. Since I moved to GA from CA I have made 5 trips to NM and AZ to paint. Heck, it's only a few hours more to get to NM from here as it took to get to AZ from SF. (San Francisco) I drive from Atlanta past Dallas the first day, then into the mountains of NM by the second day. Not bad. I enjoy long road trips.

Thanks for the invitation and thanks for all you've done to give plein air artists this great venue to communicate with one another.

Noticed several artists mentioning Tucson (my home). About two weeks ago I did this painting of one of the beautiful Sycamores in Madira Canyon in the Santa Rita Mountains south of Tucson. What a great place to paint.

What a great group name ~ SouthWestern Plein Air.  

I live in the High Desert of Hesperia, Ca.  The southwestern landscape is literally out my front door.  Joshua trees, brush, cactus, intense cactus flowers.  Oh, I need to go paint!!!
