An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location
This group is for anyone who makes or would like to make videos such as the ones that can be seen here on our website. Whether it is straight video camera, time lapse of you painting, or using a program like iMovie to make a Ken Burns type video using only still photos, this is a group that will help answer you questions about the craft.
This group does not have any discussions yet.
Comment by Donald Maier on December 31, 2011 at 9:13pm I use iMovie and mostly still photos to make my videos. I use an iMac and iTunes to upload the music. I have seen some other videos using other software that look very professional. Please share what you know.
I have made two time lapse videos of me painting. I also have a friend who is very creative in making videos and wants to do a series of videos about my watercolors. I'm looking for good ideas.

This link takes to you to WSIU TV. They filmed a short about my paintings a year or so ago.
Comment by Donald Maier on January 11, 2012 at 6:58pm I watched the video. Good job. I have a video function in my Nikon camera, but I am not familiar enough to use it yet. I just got it last month to make still images of high resolution to put my paintings on FineArtAmerica for sale as prints. Most of the small watercolors and pastels I do, I can scan and that is the best way to get them. I often make a high res and low res image, using the low res for posting online here and making videos using iMovie and the Ken Burns effect to add visual interest. I have come to the conclusion that too much zoom is easy to do, and a good way to look at art is to keep it still and let it be seen.
I would like to see more of your finished pieces at the end of your video. One thing that I think needs to be emphasized that you spoke of, is the fact that practice, everyday or very frequently, is key to improving. Keep a record of your daily work and refer back to it reguarly to see the improvents you have made in the quality of your work. It is an exciting thing to see and inspirational in itself.
It's almost like compound interest.
The WSIU video was shot by the INFOCUS producer at the station.
This link will take you to the last video I created. It's on youtube.
This link will take you to my first effort. Hopefully they get better in time.
