Comment by Thomas Wezwick on February 8, 2012 at 3:12pm Hey Damien.......one of those kinda sunny.....sorta not.....diffused sunlight......I think you captured it well.....The shadows reflecting the kind of day and sky........Cold!!!!!!! Good Winter Painting.......
Comment by Damien M. Gonzales on February 8, 2012 at 3:34pm Yup. Hard to stand still for an hour and steady your shivering so you can aim your brush. Sure beats working in a warm office though.

Comment by Cecile Hines on February 9, 2012 at 1:43pm beautiful painting Damien, the choice of color was just right to convey the south western landscape in February.
Comment by Lynne Haines on February 9, 2012 at 4:02pm Lovely!
Comment by Damien M. Gonzales on February 9, 2012 at 4:32pm Thanks Cecile and Lynne. Alot of muted tones this time of year but still a real challenge to get it even close to being right.
Comment by Donald Maier on February 11, 2012 at 1:27am I love your work when you get it down to this monochromatic palette you have going on here. Really good work.
Comment by Larry Seiler on February 11, 2012 at 10:11am in effect, a Zorn palette...
I add a bit of Fr Ultramarine blue to my black when playing with this palette...as the black in Zorn's day had more blue content. It holds to a marvelous harmony and control...and mastering the values leads to great results as this painting here. Very nice, Damien....
Comment by Damien M. Gonzales on February 11, 2012 at 10:39pm Thanks Don and Larry. It's amazing what can be done with that simple palette and it almost automatically results in harmonious and naturalistic color especially here in the desert. It's a good choice when you need to recalibrate your color sense and and when in a rush. Thanks for pointing out Zorn. I will read up on what he did.
Comment by Elissa Gore on February 12, 2012 at 10:02am beautiful and cold looking too!
