Thank you Ann, that size about all I can manage for a late sunset. The moment the sun went below the horizon the gnats came out in full force. I was fairly protected, but they still flew into my eyes and mouth. Interestingly they go for the light parts of painting, notice the specks are only in the sky and water:) They also covered the white and naples yellow on the palette...kind of gross.

Ahh.... The pleasures of plein air! Were they the "no see um's"? I had to pick out a couple dozen of them from a marsh painting this spring.
