Wonderful pattern-making here and with lovely colors.
Well done......you sure captured the light here, in what can be a very difficult subject.....!
I have to make another comment..........This painting has it all........great light.....wonderful color.....well designed...balance........and really has a sence of place..............
Thank you. Working a bit larger really helped with this and developing the fore, mid and background relationships.
As you say, the different layers of depth is critical to this painting working and not becoming a jumble of light and dark. A difficult subject handled very well indeed. The rapidly changing light doing this plein air can drive you nutz.
Beautiful Ed, Even the thumbnail reads well.
P.S. I have almost adoped the 11 x 14 format as my plein air standard, but I still carry 8 x 10's with me.
Thanks Bob, I'm finding I really need a warm up painting before I get down to the real thing. I'm just having trouble approaching it like a warm up. I do think the larger size works better but I have a lot invested in 9x12! Reminds me— I need to make some new panels.
