PLEIN AIR ARTISTS

An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

early 1970's plein air

full sheet watercolor. Whenever I see this one (it's at my dad's) I recall vividly painting it. I took my paints on our trip to North Minn. Had I known the mosquitoes were so huge and numerous, I would never have gone into the woods to paint. The attack began & I finished the painting in a wild slapping flurry, then ran for the camp trailer.

Well, wild slapping fury seems to work well here. I love it, esp. the blues in the shadows, yummy!

Nice to see some other of your watercolors. This is nice. I have also had some real terrible painting experiences with mosquitoes. I don't think they were mosquitoes, but maybe flies in Joshua Tree National Monument, the first time I painted there was a large oil painting and I could not finish because I was driven crazy by the bugs near sunset.
