I will come back to your paintings time and again when I feel my inner critic trying to match a color in my reference...... one instructor said " don't be a slave to your reference.... even if it is in front of you"......... the joy is to add your personality and joy to the painting......... keep on........

Dan,
I spent years trying to match the color in front of me, but it never made me happy - even when I was successful. It also took years to let go of all the "shoulds" and follow the "joy", but often that can be easier said then done. I look for that place in every new painting. Thanks so much for the comment,
