An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

Majesty

12X12 oil on stretched canvas. On the top of the tallest hill overlooking Christiansted, St. Croix's main town, is property that belonged to the infamous Sir Alan Stanford. When he'd purchased the property it was an elegant homestead containing a beautiful main house, several guest houses, a swimming pool, a tennis court, a convention center and at least one of just about every plant and tree growing on the island. After purchasing the property, Sir Alan razed it, practically to the ground. This stand of majestic royal palms, lining a road that goes nowhere, remains. The sheer beauty of their stateliness, rising above all the devastation around them, captivated me and I just had to paint them.
