An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

Morning 16x20

So I went out and tried something a little different. I coated my canvas with a coat of zinc white acrilic because the canvas had too much texture, and I wanted to see what would happen. I started this painting and the oil paint just sat on top of the undercoat, and as the painting progressed ,if I used a strong brushstroke ti would just wipe away the under painting. As the paint started to set up, I switched to some very soft brushes and I at least was able to get a painting out of it.!! So I learned something......

The color is very dense and the shapes a bit more defined—very nice. I say try it again, you're on to something.

Hi Ed, I like your new photo............anyway , Thanks , I think I am getting out early enough to get those long shadows, and good lights.......or maybe I am just seeing thing in a different way......or realizing what is more impactive on canvas.............but I really appreciate your positive comment, it always helps.......

Hi Georgina, and thanks Cecile. Yes I do struggle, but , if I paint what excites me, I struggle less and less. Hey

Cecile, you mentioned the reddish water.......thats kinda what it looked like, and when you put paint down and it look good....better leave it, and move on.......No???
