An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

Phyllis's Haystack

Just had to try to make a haystack like Monets. Not easy, but it was easy to get a group of artists to come help and Phyllis supplied the field and the hay. We took a roll and laid it down flat and then built up from there. It isn't quite the historical size or shape.. but close and it was really fun to paint. Then when the paintings were just about finished we had a great picnic. While we ate lunch, each person talked about the good and bad points of their own painting and then invited critique by the rest. It was really a great day and such a fun project. 11x14 oil on linen panel Alla Prima

Very nice Jennifer,  I think Monet would enjoy this hay stack.

Thanks Robert! It was really fun to paint and I think I will have to go back for second try at a different time of day. That is in keeping with the whole idea ... Hay is really fun to paint
