Another beauty! You use such deft splashes of color and it all works together! How do you do it? So simple...yet it tells the story so beautifully! What a gift you have! =)

Carol - This painting is what plein air painting is all about. Fantastic.

I thought plein air painting was all about dropping a tube of cad red into a protected waterway, falling in when you try to retrieve it and then losing your car keys and your cell phone as well.

But seeing as I painted this along a mountain road as the sun was setting, running late but determined to paint something before finding my hotel and bed—in that sense I suppose it IS what plein air is all about: the artist being as surprised as anyone about how it works out.

(And thanks for the compliment.)

That's amazing background, I think we could work together. Despite the chaos of each situation, I agree, the surprise is the treasure.

I’d enjoy that. My requirements for painting partners are minimal:

1. They can’t whine if it starts to rain (here it always starts to rain, unless it’s snowing);
2. They have to be willing to pee in the woods if necessary because I’m not driving all the way back to Tim Horton’s.

Being a Group of Seven fan is also a definite plus.

Wow, I think we fit, on all counts. Ever get to Seattle?

Not in years, unfortunately. I'm in the economic swamp called "putting kids through college." I expect to finish shortly before I die.

(But it's fun to dream about. I visited Seattle, Olympic National Forest and Sol Duc Hot Springs years ago. Wow!)
