An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location
The Sir Martin is a former Dutch training ship from WWII. The ship is docked in Manhasset Bay in Port Washington, NY. I painted this as the sun was beginning to set. Limited pallet of Ultramarine Blue, Transparent Red Oxide and White.

A lovely achievement here. The early morning light is soft and convincing.
I have just discoverer your Gallery Lawrence. Nice work. I like the flat light in this painting. I also like transparent red oxide . I was introduced to it last year and now use it as a prime coat.
Thank you Sharon.
Robert- Yes. I was given a sample of the red oxide at a plein air event last year. I just started using it and really like it. Thanks for the nice compliments too. You can see more of my work at: sirlawrencestudio.blogspot.com and www.chrapliwyfineart.com.
Thanks Lawrence for your nice comment. I have my head in studio work recently and haven't been looking at the plein air world.
The combination of transparent and opaque colours in an oil painting always gives it life and this painting is an excellent example of this ...well done
This is cool calm feeling of day's end, beautiful.
The longer I look at this, the more amazed I am at your skill. congrats on the feature.
