Comment by Cecile Hines on January 28, 2012 at 10:08am This is OMG beautiful!!! How big is it? Did you have to mix alcohol in the water?
Comment by David Diaz on January 28, 2012 at 11:29am Beautiful water color with a minimum of information

Comment by Suzanne Shedosky on January 29, 2012 at 8:50am Wow! Thank-you All!
To Cecile & Robert
Believe this painting is around 15" x 20"....this Fall traded it for an Australian saddle. Used just water and paint. I like the patterns that sometime show up from the frost. This day might have been above freezing, tho. Have had some where the pigment & water froze and ended up pushing around frozen clumps!
Once again....thank you all for the nice comments!
Comment by Benjamin Smith on February 4, 2012 at 12:57pm I have been trying to paint winter for decades and never achieved the feeling as well you have with your simple palette and lovely brush strokes. The depth, both of perspective and color make this such a dynamic composition that carries the essence of cold and wet.
Comment by Suzanne Shedosky on February 4, 2012 at 7:46pm Hey Benjamin! Thank-you~ I just try to feel/observe and compare the relative warmth & coolness of the values.
Hi-thanks for your warm welcome. I love this one too. I am a beginer and alcohol was mention--do people some times use alcohol mixed with w/c and if so what percentage? I realize from the discussion that you did not use alcohol. Thanks again for the warm welcome and I'll will try to get out this month and paint a w/c but I think I'll stay in my car--it's pretty darn cold right now.
Comment by Suzanne Shedosky on February 13, 2012 at 8:05am Thanks Joan~ I've tried the alcohol once , but didn't care for the 'feel'. So I struggle with freezing paint, but that's half the fun for me. If a car or a nice warm sun puddle out of the wind works then I can count on some evaporation. Just one more puzzle to work out. I'll work from any window in the house also, since the subject is still plein air! Fields & sky (occasional horse, cow, coyote, opossum, raccoon, dog, kitty, bird will walk into the scene) here in Illinois~;0)
