Oil in sketchbook 27 x 22cm
quick study of tone. First of 5 sketches in one session. I read about this technique from one of the plein air members Barry John Raybould and thought it a good idea as a warm up. I didn't know you could paint oils on sketchbook paper so gave it a try and it worked brilliantly. This way I was using oils from the start, not pastels or watercolour so it was easy to carry on. Had I been using pastels I would perhaps have got carried away and done a detailed drawing.
