An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

Winter Pines

Oil on canvas, 9x12. A problematic season: my movements have been confined by some foot surgery: learning to paint sitting down, and limited in where I can go. Frustrating in this warm winter in NE. More time looking at art than doing it: can you tell I'd been looking at a lot of Japanese motifs?

This has an almost arts and crafts feel to it. Just lovely.

Yes. . .also a point of Japanese influence for arts in the west. My husband remarked that it reminded him of Newcombe pottery designs. A long way, inadvertently, from trees along the Merrimac River here in Massachusetts.. . I like working plein air with a limited palette, though.

The more I see this, the more I like it!
