An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location
This hunk of rock always catches my eye.....near the World College just outside of Las Vegas N.M......I tried to paint it a few weeks ago on a cloudy day,,,,,I did not like the way it turned out....I like this one better......and like everything I have been posting of late.....This is fresh off the the french easel.....and later I am going to put the finishing touches on this and the others........I love painting these.not as much fun finishing them...and filling in the blanks....

Comment by Cecile Hines on September 12, 2012 at 9:18am Nice!
Comment by Georgina Rey on September 12, 2012 at 12:57pm I wouldn't touch it if I were you....love the way you've done the sky..that white really outlines the rock well. You're getting very good at those strong brush marks!
Comment by Thomas Wezwick on September 12, 2012 at 8:00pm Hello Georgina.........so, what I am trying to do is paint quickly.......and paint without having that labored...struggled look..........and I find , at least in my on location painting for me..the quicker the better. As soon as I overwork, and diddle around...my paintings look like just that..........I am trying to grow as a painter so I really do want and appreciate this feedback.....................as we all do,,,,I suppose.
Comment by Georgina Rey on September 13, 2012 at 12:20am p.s. you've brought out the colour well with the photo too, what did you do? was it the contrast? My eye moves into the pic with the light greens then to that pine on the left then up to the top- those slashes on the rock face direct my eye up...I wonder if you do the same?

Comment by Thomas Wezwick on September 15, 2012 at 9:40pm Hello Ann.........Thanks ....Its really great when a fellow artist can be specific ,,,,and let one know what they like in a painting...............Its really helps........of course the converse is also true......but not as much fun.....The critique page was popular for about a minute..........too much .......kinda harsh.....stuff......said....Thats my long winded
Thank You
