Artist Bio & Statement Candy Barr's style can be associated with painterly realists. She paints in oils from models in studios to outdoors en plein air, fresh in color applied alla prima, which reflects an immediate response to the subjects being painted. Inevitable changes of light force her to paint spontaneously with animated brushwork. With ever changing landscape in rural areas like Vermont, finding respectful relationships of man to nature as along Lake Champlain, become moments of treasured reflection. Intense observation and prolific production deepens and insures her sense of place.
Candy Barr graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA and MAT in painting and lithography awarded into European Honors program and a MFA from Vermont College.
