"As much as anything, I think you said it best about keeping you sharp and being part training. Ultamitely it will give you confidence in your brush work. This then can be carried to the studio work or where ever. I have always enjoyed being outdoors…"

The exhibit of plein air artists in Corot's favorite haunt of Civita Castellana has been moved back to 27 October - 11 November to coordinate with the town's arts week, and the show will now be in the imposing Sangallo Fortress.See More

Why Art?

I practice lots of different kinds of art--from frescoes, to architectural design, to studio work, to plein air. Given this site, I suppose I'd say, in response to why I do it, that plein air is part compulsion (every time I see something beautiful I want to paint it), part challenge (the game of capturing as much as you can in a two hour window of time), part training (it keeps me sharp, and loose, for studio work), and partly because, well, other people seem to like it (not necessarily enough…See More
