Hi Diane, I love your work. I must admit that I chuckled to myself a bit, knowing your from Tucson, AZ and it appears that you travel north to do these lovely painting of maybe Napa Valley, CA? I used to live in Northern CA and would travel south to AZ to do my favorite subject matter in the desert. :) I should move to AZ.
I imagine with some of the attention to textural detail and such your work has, you must go back to the same location a number of different times. Very lovely work...strong color and values, and sense of compositional lay.
Here in northern Wisconsin and upper Michigan...thanks to the lake effects of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, and the Canadian fronts...I think we pretty much have to seize the moment and be done with it. We have a saying, "if you don't like the weather, stick around fifteen minutes!" Not much chance of one day's light comparing to the next here...so, I more often than not alla prima everything.
Hey Diane...Cincinnati does not change, as you know. We paint out on Tuesdays and Thursdays - even in the searing July heat and humidity. The May flowers are brilliant
Diane: Coming from such a fine artist such as yourself, your comment warmed my heart. It seems when I abandon what I SHOULD paint, and paint from MY HEART instead, I always receive comments....I think there is a lesson there! Thank you!
