Backyard 1
This picture is 6 x 8. I decided to "back up" a bit and use a really limited palette - I borrow the concept from Fairfield Porter - black, yellow, and a red. It was really good for me and will do some more in this vein...

Windy Fields of Haleakala
Painted this upcounty one windy afternoon. Was hesitant, but my easel on tripod did really well. The pic is more contrasty than the orig despite my efforts to fix it.

"His daughter came over to Maui to surf for a few weeks but he is new the area and spending all his free time painting. He did this one last week that I think is wonderful. I'm trying to figure a way over to visit in the Fall. "
