Artist Statement :
"My purpose in life is to bring joy and healing to self and others by gaining and sharing knowledge of wholeness of body, mind and spirit. This I have done in my nursing career, and now in retirement, I continue on this path through teaching art and creating peaceful paintings."

Artist Bio: I was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio. I remember vividly painting at an easel in Kindergarten and have always been working in art. I am basically self taught, but continue my art education by taking workshops and studying art books.
After raising my children, I moved to Montana for seven years. During that time, I participated in many western artists workshops. My favorite workshop instructors, were Clyde Aspevig, Jack Hines, and Jessica Zemsky. Jerry Inman was very influential with my pastels.
I returned to Mansfield, went to nursing school, graduated with my RN, and spent my time as a Psych Nurse for 18 years. Recently retired, I haved “brushed up” by studying with Fred Graff, Tom Lynch, Brenda Mattson, Robert Moyer, and then in 2008 . . . I found the Ohio Plein Air Society. Once again. I began painting in oils outside. Recent workshops include Carolyn Lewis and Marc Hanson.More recent workshops have been Debra Joyce Dawson and Chris Leeper.
I continue to work in watercolor, and pastel, also do pet portraits, but plein air oils are my real passion.

"Very nice watercolor! I admire that you paint when it is so cold. Alcohol in your water so it won't freeze. I am in Ohio, too. The middle of the state."

"Nice painting, Judy. The textures on the water are a nice touch, as are the reflections. The overall moody lighting  you have created makes for an interesting winter scene. What's the size? Is it oil?"

Hi Judy - I'm beginning to think Ohio moved to Texas! We have actually been having a real winter here. Who would have thunk it? However, I still think it's a wee bit colder there...... ;-) We get pleasant, spring-like respites in-between cold fronts, which allows us to rush out with our paints and take advantage of the break.
