September 25, 2010 Nocturnes
As sort of promised, I got up this morning at 4:00am to go paint nocturnes! I'm not going to lie, that wasn't easy to do. I went out to dinner and did some socializing, a 'not to frequent' activity this month being a student of the night! According to our extremely accurate weather forecasts, it didn't rain like they said it would, either last night or this morning. Good thing they were wrong about this morning.

9/23 'Corner Of Bench And First St' - Nocturne
It rained and rained and rained. Tonight had me limited to either in the car, the coffee shop didn't work out, the car didn't work out either. So when the rain let up for a little bit I set up under the awning of the Chisago House Restaurant and painted the corner of the street where the Bakery is... in the rain!
Only one painting in the bag for tonight. I started one in the car and ended up wiping it due to not being able to see well enough with the heavy rain.…

Rain... where to paint?
I have a couple of nocturnes to paint tonight and am wondering what I'll end up doing with all of this wetness!? My nocturnes are painted from life, usually outside although a couple of them have been inside due to dangerous electrical storms. Tonight doesn't look like that will be a problem, so the problem will be to find shelter from it all to paint. If push comes to shove I'll park myself inside a restaurant or coffee shop and paint the night in something like… Continue

Small world! I have lived here for 17 years but I am a lot older than you, I graduated from Fort Jones High in 1963. My son however, did graduate from Del Oro in 1993 and then followed in my footsteps and graduated from Chico State. His name is Mark Williams, and he lives in midtown Sacramaento now. Maybe you know Mark?
Put some more paintings on so that I can study and learn from them. I love your control of the Pastels. If you ever get near Atlanta please let me know.
