Painting Nature:

Nothing is more artistically satisfying to me than painting from nature. From the mountains to the ocean, the colors, textures, and geometry offer me endless inspiration. My work can best be described as loose realism. I aspire to create paintings that are direct and expressive.

Aldro Hibbard Retrospective at Rockport Art Association

October 30, 2012 to November 11, 2012
With winter coming on here is a show that no landscape painter should miss. If you want to see how snow should be painted you should check out Aldro Hibbard's work — he was truly one of the masters of rendering snowscapes. This show is awesome! Over a hundred canvases, most large. You will fall in love with color all over again.See More

"Hi Jim, I'm doing OK. Haven't been painting much lately. I have no excuse, so I'm playing hooky from work tomorrow and going out. Can I lure you out? Short notice, I know. No, I haven't seen the Hibbard show, but I will."

“Castle” on the River

"Having a purse is a mixed blessing, am able to bring a small W/N watercolor kit, a couple of capped water reservoir brushes and a small (4x6) w/c block, also (4x6) recycled buff paper and sanguine pens, but also must have a pencil (for cross words)…"

Nie to meet you too. In Brazil the plein air painters only paint big canvas. Thanks for the animal compliment - I haven't heard this for a while. Happy Painting!

Artist Survey

Please help me in planning my workshop schedule for 2011. Could you take a few minutes and answer a survey that I have online? Your feedback will be extremely helpful.

BTW, should you ever want to do an online survey, I highly recommend SurveyMonkey.

Happy painting,

Charlotte

Hi Steve! Wonderful to meet you. I'm sure we do have friends in common. Thanks for welcoming me to the site but I may have joined a bit early. I'm returning to painting after taking time off for family and don't have much in the way of a pleine air portfolio. I checked out your work and it is absolutely gorgeous!

Hey Steve,
Glad to meet you at Kenn's workshop. I didn't comment at the time (to tired to contribute) but I like what you did with the larger version of your painting. Especially with the background and opening up the water more. Well done.

Hi Steve,

How goes it? We need to get together and go painting. Have you seen the Hibbard show yet? We're going up on the 27th.

Take care...
