Visit www.susanfgreaves.com

This California-based artist paints from life, stressing careful observation and direct execution. She has a strong, painterly style that exhibits a fine sense of color. Her plein air landscapes, figures, floral still life, and equine work is widely exhibited and collected internationally.

After earning a BA in applied arts, Greaves was a scholarship student of master artist Sergei Bongart and studied frequently with William F. Reese. Workshops with Harley Brown, Bettina Steinke, Ned Jacob, and others added breadth to her work.

During her 35-year career, Greaves received numerous awards and has signature memberships in Knickerbocker Artists, Alla Prima International, and Whiskeytown Plein Air Painters. She was awarded master signature status in Plein Air Painters Northwest Society and juried associate membership Oil Painters of America. In 2005, the Society of Master Impressionists invited her to be a charter member.

Sharing is good. Let's share the special spots that we love. Put the general location in caps, so we can scan back through the entries when we plan a trip. Also, upload a shot of a painting you did there, if you have one.  See More

Susan have you lost your head? Who did the cropping on your photo it is supposed to be 'head shot' not 'headless shot'. Good to almost see you. Bill

Hi Susan. I'm just catching up on this site. Man, lot's of comments, I should open it up more often.

Thank you very much for your kind words. It may look that way sometimes, but I usually feel totally out of control and in a tail spin. Very, very seldom does it feel like all of those things that you mention are actually in place. But actually, that feeling of being on the edge is part of what I like about painting. Sailing, flying airplanes, skiing... all similar experiences but painting is much, much healthier to do! :)

What did he build? I'm on hold on an RV 6A, tail feathers finished and in the middle of wings.
I hate those downdrafts.
