I’m an painter.
I'm a photographer.
I specialize in images of the horse, with a focus on the even more highly specialized niche of dressage.
I’m married to an extraordinary man who is also an extraordinary judge and horseman.
I rode horses for years.
Now I ride interstates, airplanes and computer chairs.
But I still get to sneak a kiss to a horse nose here and there.

Quick sketches from Bozeman, MT

After photographing the dressage show at the Cottonwood Arena in Bozeman, MT, I had a whole day to myself to do some painting. Because I had to carry my full complement of professional photo equipment on this trip, I decided to pack lightly in the painting department, and so off I went with my compact watercolor kit.

Horses were turned out in green fields -- it's been a wet summer in Montana, and the grass hasn't yet gone brown. It was a pleasure to just sit under a tree and watch… Continue

Painting For The Cure: Great Auction!

Terrace Arena Looking South, in progress.

I spent two full days painting on location at Dressage at Devonwood. The weather couldn't have been better, although maybe it was a little too warm on Friday - so unusual for Portland, Oregon! The days are long and the light luscious this time of year. The grounds of the Devonwood Equestrian Center are a delight for riding, spectating... and… Continue

Painting For the Cure

(Evening Piaffe, Oil on linen panel, 8"x10")

My specialty is painting horses, and this weekend I’ll be traveling to Portland, Oregon to one of the largest horse shows in the northwest, Dressage at Devonwood. I’ll be painting plein air at the show, trying to capture the atmosphere and beauty of the Rattner family’s fabulous facility.

Yes, painting horses while they are in… Continue

Your paintings done in Portland are wonderful. I hope they all find homes.
Your painting box looks interesting. Did you make it?

Thank you Terry for the information about your paint box. I'm trying to carry lighter equipment, as I port into beautiful places.
I really think your horse paintings are beautiful. I'm happy they found homes.
I think of my paintings as puppies, and so I'm delighted when they go off to loving homes and it's great when the purchase is to a good cause.

Hi Terri,
I may have just sent off a comment to me instead of sending it off to you. Anyway, thank you for your information about the box. I bought the 10x12 size, only 4lbs. and I'm excited to get out and paint with it when it arrives. I will call the company soon and ask about the canvas carrier and see what the weight is. So very grateful. Joy

WOW, almost nothing,.What a great idea they had. It is hard to tell much about them from the photo on the site. I'll call them and find out the cost of the holders and the actual weight. You are such a wonderful help. I hurt my back in April deciding to go under a rope fence with my heavy load of art stuff on my back. So that's why I'm on this search. And why I appreciate your information. Joy

Love this website. Will meet a fellow member in Morro Bay in mid Sept to paint. Never made it to SD Frames that day - sorry. Maybe this week. Best, Cathe
