How I Energize my Paintings

If you haven't tried Sunset Paintings, please try some. It really gives you a rush. I know that alot of plein air painters wake up early. Then, they go out and paint the sunrise. GREAT. I heard it works really well. You block in the shadows, and the rest can be done at leisure. (Unfortunately, my leisure then might be 3 to 4 hours.) I paint very slowly in the morning.

I mean, mornings are great. I can go out and hike a bit. Drink from my mega coffee cup.… Continue

Fire Photos from My House

Yes, the photos are from right outside my door. I hate to ask you to click through to Adventures Website, but for some reason I can't get photos to upload when I blog.

Today, I can't even go out and plein air paint, which I really miss. The wind has changed direction, and we are now encircled in brown smoke filled clouds.

Live, love and PAINT INDOORS Today:)

Adventures in Laguna Beach

Laguna is French for Great Art Town! Believe it or not.

Okay, I am joking. I have no idea what Laguna actually means. But it is known throughout Southern California as a mecca for plein air artists.

Not only is it a great place to paint, but there is so many art opportunities happening. On Wednesday, my friend Sue and I headed to Laguna. (My husband was decarbing at the time, so I took the opportunity to run!… Continue

Cows in California?

When I first came to California, well, to be honest, I thought all of California looked like Hollywood! you know, that the whole state was covered with those stars from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and that Palm Trees were everywhere, and we were movie stars.

Now stop Laughing - I hear you snickering!

No, Really, I was in total shock when I got here, so many years ago. My first assignment was living in the high… Continue

Terry, wrong Bill. I've never been north of the lower 48. Missed a chance that I didn't want in '67. Missed one that I wanted in the early 90's. William Reese is your target. What an awesome painting under Northern Lights.

Hi Terry,

HI TERRY Thanks for your comment on Bygone Days. Palm Coast is exactly half way between St. Augustine and Daytona. It is a 30 minute drive to either city. Ponce Inlet is farther south for me, about one hour so I don't go down their very much. I think no-see -ums are always around especially at the beaches. Right now is Love Bug season. They don't bite but they do get in my paint, stuck on a painting . or even hang on the brim of my straw painting hat. When do you plan to re-visit Datona ?

Hi Terry, Thanks. Hope to get some images soon. I have a series of
paintings from Italy that I need to get photographed. Problem is I am
photo challenged, if I take a good picture it is usually by accident.
Hopefrully this next week.

Hi Terry, thanks for the advice, I had never heard of that site before. Well, I finally got some images uploaded. What a chore! Not sure how great the photos are but at least I finally have some work on the site. And it only took me how many weeks????? I hope to get out tomorrow morning early and get some painting done. It's been real hot here in Redding, 3 digits every day so unless you want to fry you have to go really early. There's this great pasture with about 35 horses and lots of huge oak trees that I have been wanting to get to for the last couple months so, I guess you know where I will be at sunrise.

Can't wait to see your images. I should post some, and come back to the land of the living. I've been painting spotty. At sunrise, I'm out refinishing my big old Van. I want to turn it into a mobile art studio. Yeah, got to get it done before 3 digits hits us at 11. I have been painting at night.

Can I come out and paint with you?
It sounds beautiful. Terry

Hi Terry.... thanks for dropping by my page... the 'Capt' is NOT military, I have a Captains License from the United States Coast Guard... commonly called a 6-pack license, I can operate a 100 ton vessel with 6 paying passengers.... and I have a towing endorsement. My husband and I used to work for Tow-Boat US and needed the license for that job.
The sunset pictures are of Kiawah Island SC (not Georgia). I'm hoping to finish a Sea Oats picture tonight... I love your palm tree and beach house paintings.... I love the beach :-)

HTerry...I'm a little late in answering your comment about "Belle's Cove". It is in Tennessee, near Mont Eagle. A great place to paint barns.
