Artist

I am a recreative artist. I stand and say I CAN paint this and recreate the scene in front of me. What comes off the brush is a pur e reaction distilled from my skills, observation, training, palette, weather and gut. Watercolor, oil and some acrylics, whatever gets the work done. Cabo to Cancun, Singapore Hi Rise to my own backyard - I observe too much and paint too little. To finish a painting a day is my goal and Tony Couch who goes from a blank full sheet watercolor paper to finished fine art in three hours is my aspiration.

Thanks for the friend request.
I'm new at Plein Air, but we all have to start somewhere. I love your work, by the way. Your watercolors inspired my Plein Air painting while I was in the Caribbean last month. Your work helped me give myself permission to paint more quickly and free-er. I look forward to you painting with us in the future.

In the past, a lot of my winter plein air were from inside the car (small ones, and I have a few done through a window at a winter paint-out I have been to over the years ( limited views though). I got those 'hot sacks' from Costco last winter, which kept my hands warm so I poked my brush through some old mittens. Now the challenge is keeping the paint a bit looser - it does stiffen up a lot when outside in the cold - but since speed is of the essence, it loosened up my style which I like a lot. Tricia

Hi Val, it's been too long since we have seen each other or spoken. To answer your question though a "sharpie" is what I recommend and use. Unfortunately, I used a permanent marker, which seems to have lived up to it's name! I did finally resolve the issue though and it was a long process and a pain in the neck!

Valerie.........I know there are so many paintings out there. And when a fellow artist compliments  work, .It inspires me .  We spend so much time in isolation, with , at time, not much feedback....good or bad.  So thank you...............and happy good paintingto you.Tom

thank you, Valerie! Are you a rock climber? Rock climber or not, this is a spectacular place to visit, hike and paint, Oregon's humble version of the Grand Canyon.
