I'm an English painter with a particular love of the coast - difficult for someone who lives a loooong drive from the sea!

I did an honours degree in Fine Art as a mature student - which featured a lot of plein air painting and sketching.

what about those tents that fishermen have? You can huddle inside and keep dry if the rain becomes heavy too.

Very well done, especially if this is watercolor done on a drizzly day.

A photo by vivien blackburn was featured
a local reservoir on a still, overcast day, starting to drizzle. The colours were dulled and contrast reduced, except for the strong contrast of the water/sky against the heavy mass of summer foliage.

Thanks, Its all about the light and shadow patterns for me. I get really bummed when it rains and I have no shadow patterns!

If you look at my bio you will see a painting above the photo of me painting at the Canyon edge. In the painting you will see a ledge in the foreground with a bush on it... so the edge was not a sheer drop off. I have painted a bit right at the edge and it does make me dizzy. I am attaching one here for you to see that I did during that same trip to Canyon de Chelly in 2006 called "Mummy Caves Overlook" where I was standing at a sheer drop off at the canyon's highest point and my watercolor block resting on the waist high retaining wall there.

Hi Vivian, That photo looks deceptive. I am not actually right at the edge. I get scared of heights as well. The last time I painted at the Grand Canyon in 2008, I started getting dizzy spells.

This is actually in Canyon de Chelly in Arizona. It is relatively small compared to the Grand Canyon. If you have never seen it in person, you must make a trip there to see it for yourself. One cannot appreciate paintings of it or photos until they experience it for themselves.

Vivien, adding a watermarks badge for membership is a great idea. Lots of water loving folks here!
