"Bill,I hope there is painting in Heaven...we miss you down here, but thanks for the inspiration.
I usually drive around looking for a focal point in a context that will make a good painting. I try not to have a pre-conceived idea of what to paint…"
"Last week we lost Bill Reese. He was in his 90's and although I never met him, his work and attitude have had a lasting effect on me. I was planning on meeting him later this year on a cross country road trip to the northwest to paint with some…"
"Bill discribed to me how oil paint texture gets at 40° below and that he would go out to observe for several minutes and then come back indoors and paint a bit from memory. This was part of his bucket list. What a guy!"
"I was privileged to join others who so loved and admired Bill Reese in celebrating his life today at services in Cashmere, Washington. For all the fine tributes, nothing matched the poem he requested be read at his graveside in matching his…"
Hi Bill, good to hear from you! You are the reason I joined up on this site. I figured if an artist with your talent is here, then I should be too. Yes, I still work in pastels as well as oils. Focusing more on oils now though. I have a question about this site . . . does an artist have to do plein air exclusively? or just those that are posted here? Because I do work in my studio as well - p.s. still love your work! Jen
Go figure! I was looking through some old reference material yesterday and was awed by a feature article on you and your work in 1980 or 81 and the first painting that pops up here is yours. Great to see you here (I was the first member to sign up when Don started the site). I look forward to following new work.
I'm chipping away at getting everything going here. (Was in Portland where our son was given a medal by Portland Police Bureau.) I'll get my painting head screwed back on in a day or two. Am enjoying the exchange of ideas I'm seeing very much!
