Plein Air Painting in Wisconsin

This is my second summer of Plein Air Painting. I really enjoy painting outdoors and making new painting friends. My friends and I plan to continue plein air painting into winter and beyond which is a bit of a challenge with our weather. We plan to paint Thursday afternoons at 2:30pm in the Mukwonago area and every other Tuesday at 1pm in the Waukesha/Milwaukee area.

Heading West...to Sedona, Arizona

High Ridge PaintOut Work

Well I have had a chance to rest a bit and have also process (put through PhotoShop) some of the images I shot of NC and the artwork we 8 did last week and wanted to give you a little taste of what we accomplished. High Ridge PaintOut

Suzie and I met 6 other artists last week, in Marshville, North Carolina for a week of plein air painting. We had great accomodations hosted by Mary Erickson at her artist's retreat. Housed in her 3 bedroom ranch house, we had a wonderful week of painting and getting to know each other. Barbara Benedict drove up from Hilton head and worked in oils. PLein Aire Bartow Florida Event a huge success!

40 or more artists showed up to paint over the 3 days of painting in Historic Bartow, Florida. and by all accounts it was fun and productive, and for some a new and mind blowing experience of getting out doors to paint. We welcomed artists of all levels, we just want to turn on as many painters as possible to the fun, beautiful, eye opening, and challenging experience of Plein Aire. Heather Coen Takes the Judges Award for Paint America!

On Saturday I opened my mail from Paint America. There it was, a check and a letter telling me that I won the Judges Award for "Top Mini-50" in the "Paint the Parks" Paint America competition. I knew about the award but having my first cash prize steaming in my hand was an experience I cannot forget. The winning entry was a pastel of Point Reyes along the California Coast. "Kijkend naar de Waag." Deventer, Holland.

Been to Deventer yesterday. A lovely city between Zutphen and Zwolle.

A old city as well, with lots of narrow streets and a huge marketplace.



De Waag (that's where the statue is looking at) is an old building

where the weight witches in the old days, Holland was quiet and authority

and many people came here and in other cities with "Waag" buildings

to let them self weight, even from Germany!
