I’m sure many have heard of Louisa McElwain, she is a wonderful exponent of the actual pleasures of doing on site painting as opposed the finished work that we tend to focus on a whole lot more. Her huge spontaneous canvases are far cry to working the more deliberate and detailed smaller size in methods, no more important, just different. One of the major art events in Australia is the Plein Air Painting Prize run by our state New South Wales Parliament (Government here in Sydney).
