Plein Air Wheely carries everything effortlessly in one trip

I take all my plein air equipment anywhere, easily, all in one trip.  I just roll it along in my Plein Air Wheely.

Everything I need goes with me.  No more trips back and forth to the van!   Lightweight, compact and sturdy, it loads into vehicles readily.

Dirt trails, cobblestone paths, garden gravel, boggy lawns - nothing keeps me from getting to the right spot with all my equipment: chair, umbrella,…

Wahoooo! All this and Easton 2012 too! Great news is afoot!

I am so pleased to share more great and positive news: I have been very busy prepping for upcoming plein air events, painting at LIVE ART FUSION and doing demos. In addition to acting auditions,  work on films, the newest Visigoth Capital one commercial (I'm one of the Viking type guys) and photo…

Heather wins at both PLEIN AIR ROCKIES and PRAIRIES TO PEAKS!

Last year was a banner year for me despite the economy.  I won the silver award for "Plein Air Rockies 2011" held in Estes Park, Colorado.  Oh the pleasure of sitting at 12,000 feet painting above treeline.  Such beautiful inspirational days in the clear air and sunshine! The mayor of Estes selected my painting "Lily Lake" as the painting most representing Estes Park.   I won $500 and a package of paints from Richeson Art School.  Here is a painting I did from that event which won "Best of…

SEPA "Mystery" Paintout - July 10th 2011. Wexford , Ireland

Well??...what's the mystery????

I believe a few nerves were present this morning, and some very tense body language, as SEPA gathered for our pre- festival "Mystery Paintout". There was nothing to be worried about really, we didn't have plein air bungy jump painting..or plein air while water…

A Plein Air Series of Manito Greenhouse & Conservatory

After having my driver side car window smashed out while PAing in a local river park, I decided to stay safe and PA somewhere very public.  And warm.  This winter was too cold for me to PA.  By January I was wild with cabin fever and decided to PA in the greenhouse until the weather warmed up.  I thought it might be a limited venue but I was wrong.  I am fascinated by all the things I wanted to PA and can't wait to go back!  Plus it's tropical and warm and that did me a world of good in and of… Continue

Anyone Out There

Call for artists in my area who would like to form a plein air painting group.

I am lonely out here painting by myself, is there any one who lives in the vicinity of the Bryson City area say 40 mile radius that would like to get together to paint on some regular basis? Maybe there are some of you out there already and I could join you? We have so many beautiful areas here and it is fun to have some company. Anyone interested can feel free to email…

Dry Falls PA was delightful.

Plein Air painting at Dry Falls WA was great! It is a fantastic site with a myriad of locations that will take years to paint. When the seven of us met there last weekend I experienced my first PA outing with other PA artists. The exchange of ideas and the the mutual respect for the beauty of the landscape as well as each others work, heightened the experience of PA painting for me. Seeing another artist painting is like seeing the landscape through completely different eyes.… Continue

Chilly Brrrr- COLD in Amalia

Three die hards from San Luis Valley all went down to Amalia, NM, a week or so ago: Dave Montgomery, Sue McCullough and myself, on a field trip to visit Randy Pijoan who has his home and studio there. It is beautiful country just south of the Colorado border, north of Taos. We took a chance on a break in the weather - which paid off, but the morning was desperately cold - and how cold is that? Well, it was -5 when we drove out of my driveway and I know it must have been warmer by the time we… Continue

Spring Plein Air in Spokane

We are so lucky to be out and about this winter! Loretta, my local plein air artist compandre, and I have been enjoying various Plein Air jaunts and we are getting very excited about the Dry Falls Plein Air Pop Up in March. For some one like me who is still somewhat gainfully self employed in a manufacturing business, this PA painting feels like a delicious guilty pleasure! I'm so hooked. I am painting again after many many years of not painting - about thirty I'd say give or take an eon. Which… Continue

Finallly got some plein air painting in while at the coast in Lincoln City OR.

We stayed at our favorite place, EsterLee right on the water in Lincoln City OR. So I just walked down to the beach and voila'. The weather was good in the morning and by the end of the day storms were sliding in so I only got 3 quickies done. Had some trouble settling down. My eyes kept hopping all over the glorious ocean and the waves forever change. I like to sit and let what I am going to paint sink in a little. Digest what to keep and what to omit, but I was on a tight time frame what with… Continue
