I've been back every day to this spot to try and catch the light on the fields and the shadows on the hills..but they move so fast and the drawing is tricky..I go straight in drawing with my big long brush. I took my two sketches I did in the morning and together with a photograph did this...I've not painted like this before but I feel it's what I'm aiming at: tone and limited palette. There's still more work to be done.…

I worked some more on the little studies I did a few months ago, I think they're finished now. Paintings take 'time' to mature. Sometimes months go by until you get the answer, like a seed germinating. Every process of creation has a gestation period.…
