PLEIN AIR ARTISTS

An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

Terry Storzieri's Blog (11)

How I Energize my Paintings

If you haven't tried Sunset Paintings, please try some. It really gives you a rush. I know that alot of plein air painters wake up early. Then, they go out and paint the sunrise. GREAT. I heard it works really well. You block in the shadows, and the rest can be done at leisure. (Unfortunately, my leisure then might be 3 to 4 hours.) I paint very slowly in the morning.

I mean, mornings are great. I can go out and hike a bit. Drink from my mega coffee cup.… Continue

Fire Photos from My House

Yes, the photos are from right outside my door. I hate to ask you to click through to Adventures Website, but for some reason I can't get photos to upload when I blog.

Today, I can't even go out and plein air paint, which I really miss. The wind has changed direction, and we are now encircled in brown smoke filled clouds.

Live, love and PAINT INDOORS Today:)

Adventures in Laguna Beach

Laguna is French for Great Art Town! Believe it or not.

Okay, I am joking. I have no idea what Laguna actually means. But it is known throughout Southern California as a mecca for plein air artists.

Not only is it a great place to paint, but there is so many art opportunities happening. On Wednesday, my friend Sue and I headed to Laguna. (My husband was decarbing at the time, so I took the opportunity to run!… Continue

Cows in California?

When I first came to California, well, to be honest, I thought all of California looked like Hollywood! you know, that the whole state was covered with those stars from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and that Palm Trees were everywhere, and we were movie stars.

Now stop Laughing - I hear you snickering!

No, Really, I was in total shock when I got here, so many years ago. My first assignment was living in the high… Continue

Last Chance - Palm Springs

This is it! Absolutely - the last few weeks to paint in Palm Springs. Why? I can think of over 120 little reasons. It gets HOT! Massively HOT. 120 is a cool day.

I love going out there to paint. Why?

Palm Springs could be one of the BEST kept SECRETS in America. It is Beautiful - Palm-tree lined streets, Mom and Pop friendly stores, and a Farmers Market that tops 10,000… Continue

Trailers for Sale or Rent

Lovely Little Place You Have Here!

One of my favorite things to paint are old buildings. In some parts of the world, old buildings would be hundreds of years old. In California, a building is old if it is past World War 2. And that's when these trailer parks were created.

I love going into trailer parks. There are alot of trailer parks in Southern California. Some are meticulously kept up, some are scary. I prefer… Continue

Why do I like Painting these old Trailers?

IT'S THEIR ANGLES!

It's the hope of a grand future that was projected onto these mobile Homes. George Jetson lived here! Back then, there was a space race going on! You know, like in classic cars, that had the Fins - the Back to the Future Look. And these old trailers represent that futuristic dream!

These old trailers have personality! I would have said, had personality. But I believe that the older… Continue

How the Heck do you Paint Off of that THING???

I tried to paint with those all in one mini things that Cottman sells, with a number 1 brush or whatever. I felt a magnifying glass should be included. (I'm older and I don't see so well, so excuse me!) Tooo Teeny Weeny, Then I tried the French Easel. The weight, the bulkiness, the size. What a nightmare!!! Especially because I am Teeny Weeny.

Well, for my body build, I found one that's just right!…

Loma Linda

Let me tell you about a Delightful little town that I love to paint in. It's called Loma Linda. You may have heard about this town in the news. Loma Linda University is one of the finest medical facilities in the country. That's how I got here, so long ago. But I digress.

The people of Loma Linda are into health. This is due to their religion, Adventist. So many wonderful restaurants with GREAT vegetarian food, the Farmers Market on… Continue

Welcome to my Blog

Hi - my name is Terry and welcome to my Blog. I thought I would tell you a little bit about me and my art.

First of all, I am self-developed and didn't learn how to draw until a few years ago. I am a Master Technician in airbrush. Which basically means I can copy anything. I love airbrushing, but it is extremely difficult with such a precision tool to create expressive artwork.

So, about two years, I decided to learn how to oil paint. From day one, I hated it. It was messy… Continue
