PLEIN AIR ARTISTS

An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

I'm off in July for a couple weeks Plein air painting from an RV (along the rivers for fly fishing) out of Anchorage. I've never been there, but understand I will need mosquito relent. Any other suggestions?

I was lucky enough to get to that area of Alaska in July of "07. I wasn't painting plein air then, but I can tell you that the beauty of the land and the never setting sun is overwhelming. You will never want to leave...There is a section along the water, I think called Turn Again Arm, mist covored glaciers that will stay with me forever. Best wishes for a fabulous trip, looking forward to seeing your paintings of it.

also, if you have the chance venture to the little artist town of Talkeetna, I think an hour or two away.

Thank you, I'll put Talkeetna on my list. I'm painting the Teton Plein Air Paintout three days after my return, so hope to get some good "mountain" and "fog" practice in ... and lots of greens! Now I need that mosquito repellent and the bear spray.

Mosquitos in July shouldnt be too bad I think, def need the bear horn or spray and you will be overwhelmed by the greens! I hope to get back some day myself.
