PLEIN AIR ARTISTS

An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

Today we had our annual "Taste of Acworth" and Gallery 4463 had it's own booth where I set up to do portraits. Here are a few that I did. It was good to do this today since next Saturday I am scheduled to do the same thing at the "Flavors of Fall Festival" at the Smith Gilbert Gardens on October 20th. This helps build my confidence. I have never been someone who could do the "complimentry" portrait, overlooking the flaws and lines in the face, making the subject look younger and overall "better". People are usually happy with the likeness I can get and if not, they do not have to buy it. They just walk away. No problem.

I have always just painted what I see. So with portraits, it should be no different. I would be easier for me if I could master that skill, and believe me I am trying.

Both these ladies said they liked their portraits. Perhaps they were just being kind. I told them both that I don't flatter.

MaryAnne said when I was done, "I see you got all my wrinkles", where as I replied, "well, not all, but I got enough". She was thrilled that I was able to get her poodle "Scruffy".

I only worked for a few hours today but I am really tired. I plan to be working all day next. How tired will that make me? We shall see.

Come by and sit for me if you can. See this event on the events tab. Remember, it is not the plein air event, which I will also be entered into, but the Saturday Festival thingy.
