PLEIN AIR ARTISTS

An Online Artist's Coop for Artists who Paint on Location

Plein Aire.......out door....studio setup......

I have the xterra.......and I keep a french easel sitting up with a canvas in place ......I have a pretty large pieceof glass for my pallet........a tackle box with supplies.........and the back opens up..so I can be somewhat prttected from a hard rain.............Wind is never a problem this way.........and, so if I am driving down the road, and something catches my eye........I can pull over ......open the back ......and start painting.........This way I do not have to drag out everything....open up the easel.....etc...I find I am more likley to just stop...........and start painting......ANY ONE ELSE HAVE A SIMILAR SETUP????.........I also have another easel in case I need to travelby foot.......a few feet or a few hundred feet!!!

Love your travelling painting studio. I do the same thing. I used to have an old Chevy pick up now I have a little Camry jam-filled with painting equipment, canvases etc. it just makes getting out there so much easier to have everything handy and ready to go. Your painting looks wonderful. I miss NM so much, can't wait until my husband retires so that we can spend more time. Every year I bring a painting group out to New Mexico. We start in Albuquerque, then visit to Santa Fe and stay for a week in GhostRanch then the second week in Taos. I plan to return in late Sep. early Oct. Perhaps we can meet up. Last September I organized a paint out with PAPNM. It was great! Take care, Jeanean

Hi Thomas,

your car looks a little bit damaged. Did you have an encounter with an art critic? :-)

How do you store the wet canvases? I suppose that you can't stand in front of the easel.
