I spent 3 weeks in Switzerland in the fall, visiting my daughter who is a grad student in Zurich. I saw a fair amount of the country and took 300 pictures, but didn't have much time for plein air painting.
This is a quick little sketch of the view out my window in Zermatt; the Matterhorn at 7a.m., with the sun just hitting the top. I only had a 4x4 brown-paper pad and 3 different pencils, but I had to give it a shot.
We had a sunny day in Locarno so the two of us spent a couple of hours by the water with my mini-kit of oil pastels, until we got too cold to work any more. Ths is my effort, in my 5x7 Fabriano coloured pad, on a grey-green piece.
