I’m not blog savvy, I sense that blog entries should be short.
This one might not be. ..and…no spell, grammar, fragment or run on checks.
here goes........
I just returned from hanging a show in Pacifica, CA. This is my favorite drive on the planet.
The views from highway-280 are breathtaking. Fog fingers rolling in over the Coastal Range, Skyline Blvd. flanked by miles of Eucalyptus and then….... . up and over the hill, there it is , right where I saw it last. What a surprise. The craggy coastline and the Pacific Ocean pop into view and fill the horizon. Did I forget it was there? I never ever ever get used to that awesome moment. The fog is behind me. The radio fuzzes out, reinforcing the lost in time feeling.
Just a few miles south on highway 1, no more cliffs just a long sandy beach and I'm back in the 50’s and 60’s, an innocent snippet of time. Pacifica on the coast side is stuck mid century. Barefoot surfers in wetsuits with short boards tucked under their arms cross the highway in front of me. Families carrying coolers and umbrellas trudge up the doons. The sand and ice plant creep onto the highway. This is so cool, better yet, it’s bitchin. I could tear-up but that’s corny.
I won’t move there or spend too much time. I’m sure under the surface is 2009. I don't want to know.
