Hi Cynthia, Thank you so much for the comment on my painting Oyster Bay. I re-posted it because the image was too yellow. Think your comment got deleted. Didn't want you to think I deleted such a nice comment! I am enjoying your work as well. Lovely sensitive handling.
Cynthia, I am quite flattered and humbled by your comments. I just paint because I truly love the whole process and feel blessed to be doing it and having many good painter friends who share my passion. Thanks again!
Thanks very much for your kind words Cynthia
I have not had any art training but have had plenty of practise
I think to be sucessful you need to practise just like with.a musocal instrument
No amount of instruction makes up for lack pf practise I did not paint anything worth viewing until
after my first 100 or so attempts
Cheers
David
Watching someone work is, to me one of the best learning tools. Videos don't quite do the same. Though I do not paint plein air very often I have been lucky that my profession as an illustrator has me drawing and painting daily in some way. All that adds up but as with all artists there is always that long road ahead. Just remember that EVERY painting you do helps so the more you do the better.
The best demos are the ones on site. Just seeing someone work from a photo does not quite cut it. You can see ho an artist composes what he sees and how how goes about his painting process. I have an entirely different approach for oils and watercolors. If I make the cut in Easton, Md next year come over.... there are plenty of artists to watch. You can even participate in the quick draw.
Thank you for the kind words Cyndi. The fours years I've been doing plein air have really magnified my appreciation for the beauty and variety of landscape/seascape we have here in South Jersey!
Hi Cyndi My group PLEINAIRBUDDIES may be coming up your way next month. I am organizing a trip to the Michener Museum in Doylestown, PA to see the absolutely positively most gorgeous show I have seen in years the Pennsylvania Impressionist show. We plan to paint some if weather permits. Will keep you posted if you are interested. jeanean
Hey Cyndi. The plein air part of Wings and Water is an invitational event. That said last year I was asked if I knew any artists that might be interested. I'll be talking to the sponsors shortly they left me a message that the event has changed dates it's now the second week in July. I'm wainting to find out about a schedual conflict, when I do I'll be happy to give them your name. If you want you can email your phone# in case they want that.
I pick up a brush every day, working to improve, and am so grateful to the artists here, that make me say "wow" every time I visit this site, I am a better artist just by the company I'm in. thank you.
Hello everyone, I am painting at the Old York Cellars Winery in Rangoes, NJ April 14 & 16. They are looking for a few more artists to total 25 for this event. All are welcome to participate. The event is called Mixing Pallettes, blending art and wine...
I am so excited to be painting in my first plein air event. There will be 25 featured artists over the weekend of April 14,15 at the Old York Cellard Winery in Ringoes, NJ, near Lambertville and Washingtons Crossing. Do any of you seasoned artists have advice for this greenhorn?
